Good Practice Webinar

Strengthening rural businesses for a more competitive Europe: creating value through business support, territorial assets and social economy

The webinar will present practical examples of initiatives that strengthen the competitiveness of rural businesses beyond agriculture, with a particular focus on:

• Access to finance and business support;

• Creating value from territorial assets and rural identity;

• Social economy models that contribute to competitive and resilient rural economies.

Rural Pact Policy Lab

Strengthening a diversified rural economy in the post-2027 period

Date: 30 September 2026

Location: Kotka - Finland

This Policy Lab will explore policy measures and scalable initiatives that support diversified and competitive rural economies, including:

• The contribution of rural areas to a stronger and more competitive European economy;

• Business digitalisation, SME creation, business scaling, and skills development;

• New business models such as the bioeconomy, circular economy, renewable energy, remote work, and sustainable tourism;

• Measures that enhance the attractiveness of rural areas for businesses and workers, including housing, mobility, connectivity, and essential services.

The Rural Pact is looking for

• Good practice projects to be featured during the webinar;

• Policy measures and scalable initiatives to inspire discussions during the Policy Lab.

Selected examples will gain visibility through Rural Pact events and, where relevant, Rural Pact publications, the Good Practice Database, and other dissemination activities of the European Commission.
