Deadline: 14 August 2026

The C4B Open Call for Pilot Projects is open, aiming to support the testing and validation of innovative business models for the circular bioeconomy.

The call seeks to promote the demonstration, scalability, and replicability of the business models developed under the C4B (Circular Bio-Based Business Models to Create High-Value Bio-Based Products in Integrated Value Chains) project through practical pilot cases across different regional and industrial contexts.

A total of eight pilot projects will be selected, focusing on the valorization of by-products within one or more of the project's target value chains:

• Forestry

• Agri-food

• Peatlands

Proposals must adopt one of the nine business models developed by the C4B project and demonstrate its applicability through a real-world pilot case. Funded activities may include adapting the selected business model to a specific operational context and assessing its feasibility from multiple perspectives, including technological, economic, environmental, social, and governance aspects.

Who can apply?

The call is open to legal entities established in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries, including SMEs, startups, spin-offs, research organizations, and other stakeholders active in the bioeconomy sector. Applications may be submitted either by a single organization or by a consortium of up to three partners.

Funding

The total budget available is €480,000. Selected pilot projects will begin in January 2027 and may run for a maximum duration of 12 months.
